When we reach our registration threshold for a workshop we will contact all those interested within a geographical area and schedule a workshop.

Each workshop provides 16 CPE Credits. A certificate will be provided to all attending showing the workshop name, the individual attending and the number of professional education hours earned.

IT Audit and Governance

Linda Mitton, CISA, CISM, CISSP

Linda is a Managing Director of cyberlis and an IT and audit professional with over 20 years experience. Prior to forming the IT Internal Audit and Governance group at cyberlis, she worked for CIBC and KPMG in systems management, information security and internal and external audit.

Her work experience includes planning and providing IT internal audit and governance services in banking, insurance and other high IT risk industries. Linda is a Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Systems Manager and Certified Information Systems Security Professional. Linda is past president of the Bermuda ISACA Chapter.

Project Health Check

S. Rosalind Baker, BSc. JD, PMP

Since Roz started consulting in 1999, she has worked with the PRINCE2 and MSF methodologies as well as becoming very adept with PMBOK and its concepts as a trainer with the Project Management Training Institute. She takes a risk-based approach to project management and has developed a reputation for 'getting things done'.

She is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from Queen's University.

Overview

This is a three-day workshop, designed for IT professionals. It will provide an understanding of the audit profession and develop the skills necessary to conduct IT audits. Upon completion of the workshop you will be able to develop a complete IT internal audit plan and conduct an IT audit.

Workshop Outline

  • Corporate Governance: We will discuss the board of directors' purpose, high level responsibilities, key positions on the board, how those positions interact.

  • Internal Audit Overview: We will go through a brief history, responsibilities to external auditors and internal management, interrelationship with the board of directors

  • Creating an Internal Audit Plan: You will discover all the inputs, considerations and requirements needed to create an overall internal audit plan for the organization.

  • Creating an IT Internal Audit Plan: You will learn how to identify and determine the organization technologies that need to be audited and how to best schedule those audits.

  • Conducting an Audit: You will learn how to scope, define detailed objectives, conduct the audit, interact with local managers and staff, determine observations and report on findings.

  • Monitoring and Remediation: You will learn the purpose and importance of this function, internal auditor role and how not to compromise independence.

  • IT Audit Profession Overview: We will discuss where are we now, why is this such an important role in the overall audit structure of an organization, the value this role can bring to the organization.
